  A: The replacement of inflatable restraint front end sensors requires disabling the sir system. The sensor needs to be fastened tightly to prevent both sensor deployment and injury during pre-power tests. Apply power only when the sensor is safe from striking or jolting motions. The first step removes the Radiator sight shield to expose the Radiator while relocating it for sensor access. Start by detaching the connector position assurance (CPA) from the wiring harness connector and later disconnect the wiring harness from the front end sensor. The left-handed threaded front end sensor mounting fastener can be removed from the upper tie bar before taking out the sensor. The sensor requires cleaning of the mounting surface before placement in a horizontal position which should face towards the vehicle's front direction. Install mounting fasteners with 9 n.m (80 lb in) torque before you connect the wiring harness to the front end sensor and attach the cpa. Complete the installation by positioning the Radiator then adding the Radiator sight shield and activating the sir system.
