How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for the side impact on 2005 Cadillac STS?

You need to disable the SIR system before replacing the inflatable restraint side impact sensor (SIS). Check that the SIS stays put before you power it up to prevent deployment or injury. Move the seat to its maximum forward slot while removing the side trim panel from the center pillar. The harness connector of the SIS must first have the CPA completely disconnected before separating the SIS connector from its harness. Take out the SIS from the center pillar by first removing its mounting fasteners. After preparing the mounting surface for debris and dirt, reinstall the SIS onto the center pillar while using mounting fasteners to apply torque at 9 N.m (80 lb in). First install the CPA onto the SIS harness connector before reconnecting the harness connector to the SIS. After reinstalling the center pillar trim you can move the seat to its proper position before enabling the SIR system.
