How to replace the Air Bag Sensor for Side Impact on 2006 Cadillac STS?

The SIR system needs to be disabled first before starting Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Sensor (SIS) replacement. The SIS requires secure mounting to prevent deployment and injuries during power application. Move your seat fully forward and take out the center pillar trim panel. Start by disconnecting the connector position assurance (CPA) piece from the SIS harness connector before you remove the SIS harness connector from the SIS. To extract the SIS from the center pillar you must first remove the SIS mounting fasteners. Wash the mounting area free of dirt then insert the new SIS into the center pillar before fastening its mounting brackets and tightening them to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Connect the harness connector to the SIS before you install the CPA onto the harness connector. Return the seat to its normal position then reinstall the center pillar trim. Finally, enable the SIR system.
