How to replace the shock absorber on 2005 Cadillac STS?

The replacement process for shocks starts with taking off the trim panel followed by moving aside the sound insulator from the shock tower. Vehicles with F55 suspension require the separation of electrical connector before proceeding to remove upper shock mounting nuts. First elevate and maintain the vehicle position before removing the automatic level control from the shock by using the retaining clip and pulling the connector off. You must take the shock absorber out of the vehicle once you remove the lower shock mounting bolt. The new shock needs positioning before installing the lower shock mounting bolt with 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.) torque. The automatic level control air line needs to connect to the shock after which you should guide the shock to the body with the vehicle lowered then install upper shock mounting nuts at 25 Nm torque (18 ft. lbs).
