How to replace the front door striker on 2005 Cadillac XLR?

Begin the front Door Striker replacement by raising the door window then removing the door panel followed by taking out the large water deflector to access the back of the door. Place marks on the door edge to locate the striker after you detach the fasteners on the inside from the door and remove the striker entirely. To mount the striker you should place it facing the door latch with the latching pin pointed toward the door while fasteners should be tightened at 24 n.m to 18 lb ft when the marks from before are properly aligned. In case previous marks are not discernible use an assistant to hold the outer door panel parallel to the quarter panel so you can fasten the striker from inside to 24 n.m (18 lb ft). After installing the door panel and large water deflector and checking panel fit you must verify manual and electric door release performance.
