2005 Chevrolet Blazer Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the throttle body assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Blazer?
A: Begin Throttle Body assembly replacement by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable before removing the air cleaner outlet duct and air cleaner adapter stud. Cruise control and accelerator control cables should first be disconnected from the Throttle Body before removing retaining nuts from the accelerator cable routing bracket which can then be set aside. After separation of the accelerator control cable bracket retainers using the stud and nuts proceed to place the assembly aside. After disconnecting the throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector and idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector detach the Throttle Body retaining studs to remove the Throttle Body assembly while discarding the Throttle Body seal. A new seal must accompany the Throttle Body installation before securing the assembly to the Intake Manifold through retaining studs that need to be fastened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Screw the accelerator control cable bracket onto its mounting stud and tighten it to 12 n.m (106 lb in) then fasten the accelerator cable routing bracket nuts at 9 n.m (80 lb in). After verifying free cable movement install both cables then position the cruise control unit. Put the air cleaner adapter stud into place before tightening the bolt to 8 n.m (71 lb in) then add the outlet duct. Perform a pedal inspection by activating the ignition while the engine is off then use a diagnostic tool to monitor the tp sensor signal as you move the pedal from closed to wide open throttle (WOT) position and return to zero-percent position. Verify complete pedal freedom of movement without any binding during this testing.
