    Q:
How to clean the throttle body properly on Chevrolet Blazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
In cleaning the Throttle Body, you would first remove the air cleaner outlet duct. After removing the throttle valve housing and throttle valve plate, use your motor oil to soak these components to make it easier to remove any deposits on them. Then, use a suitable tool to clean the throttle valve plate and the bore of the Throttle Body, making sure that the throttle valve is open to allow thorough cleaning of all constraint surfaces. Clean the Throttle Body bore and the throttle valve plate with a clean shop towel with gm top engine cleaner (P/N 1052626) or an equivalent detergent. Care should be taken when using immersion cleaners or solvents on assembly parts that have the throttle position (TP), idle air control (IAC) valve, or sealed throttle shaft bearings in place, as this could damage electric components, sensors, and seals or parachute rings, and solvents also reduce the effectiveness of non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings. Avoid using wire brushes or scrapers for they can damage Throttle Body components and avoid cleaner containing methyl ethyl ketone for they can damage components in an unnecessary way. If deposits are too much, dismantle the Throttle Body for cleaning using a parts cleaning brush that should not be dipped into a patch of cleaning solvent. Disassemble the Throttle Body and clean it, then reinstall the Throttle Body and the air cleaner outlet duct.

    Q:
How to clean the throttle body properly on Chevrolet S10? Posted by Customer
    A:
The cleaning process for the Throttle Body begins with air cleaner outlet duct removal to examine the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate for deposits. Make sure to open the throttle valve for thorough inspection. Assemblers containing the throttle position (TP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) valve along with sealed throttle shaft bearings should not be cleaned by immersion cleaners or treated with strong solvents because these procedures harm electric components and o-rings and degrade the grease on the non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings. The use of wire brushes or scrapers would damage Throttle Body components while methyl ethyl ketone cleaners should be avoided because they damage surfaces. Use gm top engine cleaner (P/N 1052626) or an equivalent product to wipe down the throttle bore and plate inside the Throttle Body with a clean shop towel. Thorough cleaning of excessive deposits requires the Throttle Body disassembly followed by brush maintenance without solvent immersion. Reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct once you complete the reinstallation of both the Throttle Body and all its components.

    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Throttle Body on a Chevrolet S10? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the Throttle Body assembly, first download the negative Battery Cable followed by the removal of air cleaner outlet duct and study the air cleaner adapter. Remove the cruise control cable and the accelerator cable from the Throttle Body, after which remove the nuts that hold the accelerator routing bracket in place and set it aside. Finally, take off the stud and nuts holding the accelerator control cable bracket and place it away also. Disconnect both the idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector and the throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector, remove Throttle Body retaining studs, and Throttle Body assembly, then eliminate Throttle Body seal. Clean the seal surface on the Intake Manifold and then fit the Throttle Body assembly with a new seal and fix in with the tightening of the retaining studs to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Mount the accelerator control cable bracket to the mounting stud and nuts using a torque of 12 n.m (106 lb in), and the accelerator cable routing bracket nuts using torque of 9 n.m goo ft lbs in). Connect the accelerator cable and check there is no jamming in the accelerator pedal, then attach cruise control cable. Connect the tp sensor and iac valve harness connectors, install the air cleaner adapter stud and tighten it to 8 n.m (71 lb in) and install the air cleaner outlet duct. To check the acceleration pedal movement, activate the ignition while the engine is off, and apply a scan tool to monitor the tp sensor parameter, step on the accelerator pedal to the floor, release it, and ensure that the throttle position should move from 0-100 percent to 0 percent confirming that the accelerator pedal should be free from binding between the closed and the wide open throttle (WOT).

    Q:
How to replace the throttle body assembly on Chevrolet S10? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before replacing the Throttle Body assembly, remove this negative Battery Cable, take off the air cleaner outlet duct and the air cleaner adapte stud. After removing the cruise control cable and the accelerator cable from the Throttle Body, remove the nuts that fasten the accelerator cable routing bracket and set them aside. Then, unlatch and take off the stud and nuts that hold the accelerator control cable bracket in place and also store it aside. Pull off the idle air control (IAC) valve harness connector and the throttle position (TP) sensor harness, remove the Throttle Body retaining studs and pull out Throttle Body assembly, throw away the Throttle Body seal. For installation, clean the seal surface on Intake Manifold and install the Throttle Body assembly on a new seal, with a use of retaining studs that are tightened to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Install the accelerator control cable bracket using mounting stud and nuts tightened 12 n.m (106 lb in) then accelerator cable routing bracket nuts 9 n.m (80 lb in). Valve control for the throttle should be checked by ensuring free motion of opening and closing parts when using the accelerator pedal. Mount the accel cable & cruise control cable on the Throttle Body, connect the tp sensor & iac valve harness connectors. Mount the air cleaner adapter stud tightened at 8 n.m (71 lb in) to the air cleaner outlet duct. Lastly, ensure the accelerator pedal does not bind and examine the throttle position while pressing the ignition key with the engine off with the aid of a scan tool to display tp sensor parameter as the accelerator pedal is pressed and released to confirm the throttle position varies from 0 to 100 percent and to 0 percent.

    Q:
How to replace the throttle body assembly on GMC Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the Throttle Body assembly, the mechanic has to disconnect the negative Battery Cable, remove the air cleaner outlet duct, and the air cleaner adapter stud. Release the cruise control cable and the accelerator cable from the Throttle Body and remove the nuts to hold the accelerator cable routing bracket which will be set aside. Next, you remove the stud and nuts holding the accelerator control cable bracket in place and take it off as well. Remove the iac valve harness connector and the throttle position (TP) sensor harness connector and then the Throttle Body was removed from their retaining studs and the Throttle Body itself was discarded along with the Throttle Body seal. Clean the surface of the Intake Manifold's seal and fit the Throttle Body assembly with new seal, holding it in place tightly with the retaining studs at 9 n.m (80 lb in). Insert and tighten the mounting stud and nuts to 12 n.m (106 lb in) and accelerator cable routing bracket nuts to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Check the full range of accelerator pedal movement to ensure the throttle runs freely without binding. Fit the accelerator cable and cruise control cable to the Throttle Body, and fit the tp sensor and iac valve harness connectors. Replace the air cleaner adapter stud with an 8 n.m (71 lb in) torque and the outlet duct of the air cleaner. Lastly, test the accelerator pedal operation by turning on the key with the engine out enabling a scan tool to check the tp sensor parameter and checking the movement of the throttle position from 0-100 percent and back to 0 percent.

    Q:
How to clean the throttle body on GMC Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
Beginning your Throttle Body cleaning process starts with taking out the air cleaner outlet duct. Check the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate for deposits while inspecting the throttle valve should open to expose every surface. Apply gm top engine cleaner (P/N 1052626) or an equivalent cleaning product to a clean shop towel for cleaning the Throttle Body bore and throttle valve plate. Cleaning the Throttle Body assembly requires avoidance of both immersion cleaners as well as strong solvents because damage occurs to the throttle position (TP) sensor, idle air control (IAC) valve, and sealed throttle shaft bearings along with removal of grease from non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings. The use of wire brushes or scrapers remains prohibited since they can affect parts and the avoidance of methyl ethyl ketone-based cleaners is necessary. Excessive buildup requires Throttle Body disassembly for cleaning while using a parts brush that must stay out of solvents. Reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct after you've reassembled and installed the cleaned Throttle Body.
