Oil Tube

The first step involves removing the engine cover along with the coolant recovery reservoir bolt then setting the reservoir to the side. Start by unfastening the screw which joins the transmission fluid fill tube to the oil fill tube lower support and by taking out the oil level indicator and the screw. Cleansing the old sealer from both tube sections is required before separating the top section of the oil level indicator tube from its bottom component. Remove the oil level indicator tube bolt while extracting the tube from the engine by twisting it initially then clean both the engine block and the oil level indicator tube from the old sealer. The installation process begins by using gm p/n 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent silicone-based sealant which should be applied around the oil level indicator tube 13 mm (0.5 inch) below the tube bead. Afterward, the technician can insert the tube into the engine block and rotate it into the correct position. Seal the upper oil level indicator tube around its junction point to the lower half before fitting the two pieces together. Install and tighten the bolting mechanism of the oil level indicator tube and transmission fluid fill tube to the oil fill tube lower support with a torque setting of 5 nm (44 inch lbs.). Reinstall the oil level indicator after which you should secure the engine cover and position the coolant recovery reservoir before installing the bolt to finish.

Start replacement of the oil level indicator and tube by disassembling the air cleaner assembly while freeing the retaining bolt securing the coolant recovery reservoir then putting it aside. The first step involves pulling out both components - the oil level indicator and tube bolt from its position on the retaining bracket of the oil fill tube. Then the lower tube must be detached from the device. Check for cuts or damage on the o-ring seal before removing it from service. Start by disconnecting the lower oil fill tube bolt affixed to the engine block and pull out the lower oil fill tube. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate an o-ring before installing it onto the lower oil level indicator tube. Position the lower oil level indicator tube behind the Exhaust Manifold before you raise and support the vehicle while you install the tube into the block with the collar flush to the block surface. The oil level indicator tube bolt should be installed while the vehicle is at low height before being fastened to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs). After that, place the upper oil level indicator tube in the lower fill hole and the retaining bracket should secure the tube while tightening the bolt to 10 nm (88 inch lbs.). The last step is to reposition the coolant recovery reservoir before installing the retaining bolt that is followed by the air cleaner assembly.

First, remove the air cleaner assembly and the retaining bolt for the coolant recovery reservoir, setting the reservoir aside.
