2005 Chevrolet Cavalier Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Line on 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?
A: All replacement automatic transmission cooler pipes should be made from double-wrapped brazed steel materials which follow gm specification 123m or similar standards while maintaining double-flared construction. Start by supporting the vehicle elevation followed by putting a drain pan underneath. First remove the transaxle oil cooler pipe from the transaxle then the Radiator fittings before unfastening the clip bolt retaining the pipes. Check that new transaxle oil cooler pipes have proper thread alignment to prevent crossthreaded-fitting leaks before installing the clips. Fasten the transaxle oil cooler pipe clip bolt to 4 nm (27 inch lbs.) and tighten the Radiator fittings to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). When mounting the transaxle oil cooler hoses to the pipes remember to lower the vehicle and adjust the transmission fluid level avoiding overfilling due to risks of foaming and fluid loss and shift complaints and damage. A final examination should be conducted for correct work completion and to identify any fluid leakages.
