How to replace the harmonic balancer on 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier?

Starting the crankshaft balancer replacement process requires removal of the engine Drive Belt. The Harmonic Balancer holder (J 38122-A) stops crankshaft rotation so you can loosen the crankshaft balancer bolt. The procedure starts with removing the crankshaft balancer bolt before taking out the crankshaft balancer. First install the new crankshaft balancer onto the crankshaft followed by installation of a new crankshaft balancer bolt. The Harmonic Balancer holder (J 38122-A) must be used again to stop crankshaft rotation when tightening the new bolt because tightening it to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) followed by an additional 75 degrees of rotation is necessary. Reinstall the engine Drive Belt as the final installation step.
