2005 Chevrolet Classic Brake Proportioning Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Brake Proportioning Valve on 2005 Chevrolet Classic?
A: You need to unstall the air cleanup unit before starting this job. Mark the brake pipe positions before you install. Twist off both brake pipes and fit bleeder valve caps to their ends to stop brake fluid leakage and protect the systems. The process continues with separating all 4 brake pipes and sealing their tips with bleeder valve caps. Lift the vehicle with a suitable stand and take off the left inner fender shield. Unfasten two bolts securing the proportioning valve bracket then pull out the proportioning valve assembly. Install the proportioning valve assembly through its 2 bracket bolts and secure the bolts with 24 nm torque. Replace the left fender shield then let the vehicle down to the ground. Check if all brake pipes link properly to the brake pressure modulator valve to protect against wheel lock and hazards to workers. Confirm this performance through the scan tool or performing an antilock stop. Fasten all brake tubes to the proportioning valve with their caps and then link the two remaining brake tubes together before tightening the fittings to 23 nm (17 ft. Lbs.). End the task by reinstalling the air filter and properly bleeding the brake lines.
