  • Q: How to replace the cruise control module on 2005 Chevrolet Classic?
    A: In order to remove the Cruise Control Module, one should remove the negative cable from the battery and the electrical connector from the Cruise Control Module. Open the throttle body cam a little and then, disconnect the cruise control cable of the throttle body cam lever and pull it off the throttle body bracket and the retainer clip of the engine. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the Cruise Control Module by turning it 1/4 turn in the counter clockwise direction remove the cable slug from the ribbon buckle and thn remove the cable from the engine compartment. Disengage the retainer strap from the Cruise Control Module mounting bracket, and take out the module from the mounting bracket. Move the surge tank to get to the bolts of the cruise control mounting bracket, then unplug and move the wiring harness. Pry out the mounting bracket of the cruise control securing the control with bolts, from the engine compartment and then remove it from the engine compartment. For installation, bring the cruise control mounting bracket back into the engine compartment and install the bolts, attaching them at 10 n.m (89 lb in). Connect the wiring harness to the connector and reposition it, and then mount the Cruise Control Module on the mounting bracket and secure the retainer strap until its fully in place. Connect the cruise control cable slug to ribbon buckle make sure that the ribbon is not twisted, push the cable into the module until the seal comes into contact with it. Position the narrow tab of the cable into the narrow slot from the inside and the wide tab into the wide slot and connect the cable to the module by turning it clockwise while adjusting tab pointing towards the front of the car. Connect the electrical connector to the Cruise Control Module, install the cruise control cable to the retainer clip on the engine, make sure the retainer clip applies to the throttle body bracket all the way in. Open the throttle body cam a couple of degrees to the point that the freelancer cam lever connects, move the surge tank appropriately, and lastly affix the negative side of the cable to the battery.
