Chevrolet Classic Cruise Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the cruise control module on Chevrolet Classic?
A: Begin Cruise Control Module replacement by disconnecting both the negative Battery Cable and electrical connector from the Cruise Control Module. First widen the throttle body cam a little bit before removing the cruise control cable from the throttle body cam lever along with its bracket components which include the retainer clip that mounts to the engine. The cruise control cable requires 1/4 turn counterclockwise rotation to free itself from the Cruise Control Module then the cable slug needs removal from the ribbon buckle before pulling the cable out of the engine compartment. Pull the retainer strap from the mounting bracket where the Cruise Control Module resides before you take the module out of its bracket. Access the bolts securing the cruise control mounting bracket through the surge tank position before disconnecting the wiring harness and placing it back into the correct location. The cruise control mounting bracket needs its bolts removed before you take it out of the engine compartment. Put the cruise control mounting bracket into the engine compartment for installation followed by bolt installation at 10 n.m (89 lb in). First attach the wiring harness to its connector before relocating it into position then install the Cruise Control Module into the bracket while securing the retainer strap until it reaches full seat position without ribbon twisting. Position the circuit cable slug against the ribbon buckle to connect them before inserting the cable into the module for seal contact and placing the narrow tab into the narrow slot while directing the adjuster tab towards the vehicle's front. First spiral the cruise control cable clockwise into the module before connecting the electrical connector to the module. Seal the cruise control cable by screwing it into position between the retainer clip on the engine and the throttle body bracket. After slightly opening the throttle body cam you must secure the cruise control cable to the throttle body cam lever before moving the surge tank back into place while also reinstalling the negative Battery Cable.
