The cruise control module attached to the left strut tower requires complete service treatment. Remove the cruise control cable from the cruise control module followed by disconnecting its electrical connector. The shock tower receiving bolts need removal when servicing the cruise control module. Place the cruise control module on the shock tower mounting studs but remember to follow the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Then align the Cruise Control Module over the studs on the cowl and tighten the 2 nuts, including the bracket retaining nuts with 9 n.m (80 lb in). The electrical connector is then connected to the module shall not twist the ribbon in the time of connecting the cable. The cruise control cable does not need any mechanical adjustment once it has been replaced because the Cruise Control Module automatically adjusts the cable itself. First attach the wiring harness to its connector before relocating it into position then install the Cruise Control Module into the bracket while securing the retainer strap until it reaches full seat position without ribbon twisting. Position the circuit cable slug against the ribbon buckle to connect them before inserting the cable into the module for seal contact and placing the narrow tab into the narrow slot while directing the adjuster tab towards the vehicle's front. First spiral the cruise control cable clockwise into the module before connecting the electrical connector to the module. Seal the cruise control cable by screwing it into position between the retainer clip on the engine and the throttle body bracket. After slightly opening the throttle body cam you must secure the cruise control cable to the throttle body cam lever before moving the surge tank back into place while also reinstalling the negative Battery Cable.

To replace the Cruise Control Module on a 2.2l l61 engine, a person needs to disconnect the negative Battery Cable and the electrical connector from the Cruise Control Module. Open the throttle body cam just a little, then detach the cruise control cable from the throttle body cams lever, and take it off from the throttle body bracket, and also the retainer clip off the engine. Remove the cruise control cable from the Cruise Control Module by rotating it 1/4 turn counter clockwise and slide the cable slug out of the ribbon buckle. And then connect the cruise control cable slug to the ribbon buckle not twisted and inserted the cruise control cable in the module while the seal received the touch. Position the narrow cable tab to the narrow slot and the wide tab into the wide slot while the cable will be attached to the module by turning clockwise with the adjuster tab pointing towards the front of the car. Reconnect the electrical connector to the Cruise Control Module, place cruise control cable into throttle body bracket so that it's fully seated, open throttle body cam a little bit, attach cruise control cable to throttle body cam lever and lastly reconnect the negative Battery Cable.

The first step in replacing the strap-mounted cruise control module begins with removing its cable then disconnecting the electrical plug. You must first remove the shock tower nuts to release the module before taking off the module itself. Attaching the new cruise control module requires putting it into place on the shock tower studs followed by nut attachment at 2 N.m (18 lb in) torque. Before module removal disconnect the electrical connector from its assembly then unfasten the hinged retaining strap from the bracket above. Mount the module assembly on its bracket before plugging the electrical connector into the module. Reverse-turn the cruise control cable assembly onto the module ribbon before installing the cruise control cable to the module assembly while rotating the cable assembly one-quarter turn clockwise. Guidely feed the cruise control cable tab back to the throttle body cam while positioning the cruise control cable fitting correctly into the throttle body bracket for secure attachment. After completion check the cruise control cable and replace the hood before conducting a diagnostic system check.

To replace the cruise control module placed onto the left strut tower, detach the cruise control cable first from the module and then the electrical connector. Afterwards, remove shock tower nuts and take off the module. For installation, place the new cruise control module to the mounting studs of the shock tower, and use the mounting nuts to secure it to them, tightening them to 2 N.m (18 lb in). Connect the electrical connector back, and remember that there is no need to perform any mechanical adjustment on the cruise control cable, as the module will adjust it on its own. Finally, bring the cruise control cable to the module for attachment.

Unplug the electrical connector from the module assembly and unclip the hinged marketstrap from the bracket at the top of the module before taking the module out off the mounting bracket. For installation, mount the module assembly on the mounting bracket and plug the electrical connector into the module. Install the cruise control cable to the module ribbon and fix it by rotating in a clock wise direction for a 1/4 turn clockwise. Mount the cruise control cable tab back into the throttle body cam with the cruise control cable fitting aligned to throttle body bracket , making sure that it snaps firmly into place . Ultimately, close the hood and a Diagnostic System Check.

Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the cruise control module and remove the retaining nuts from the shock tower.

Remove the retaining nuts and the module from the mounting studs, followed by the cruise control module bracket bolts from the module bracket and module.

Remove the module to bracket fasteners and detach the module from the bracket.

Reconnect the electrical connector to the cruise control module and reinstall the cruise control cable.

Place the cruise control module onto the mounting bracket and attach the retainer strap until fully seated.

Turn it ¼ turn counterclockwise and remove the cable slug from the ribbon buckle before taking the cable out of the engine compartment.

Disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle body cam lever and remove it from the throttle body bracket and the retainer clip on the engine.

Remove the cruise control cable cover.

Tighten them to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

Turn the cable assembly 1/4 turn counterclockwise and then remove the cable from the ribbon.

Remove the cruise control module shock tower nuts and take out the cruise control module.

Take off the shock tower nuts securing the module.

Turn the cable assembly (1A) counterclockwise and remove it from the ribbon.
