2005 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) at Position 2 on 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Vehicle support and positioning at a high level is the first step to replace the heated Oxygen Sensor at position 2. Begin by disconnecting the ho2s electrical connector from the engine compartment while noting the harness route. Next, bend the channel holding the harness on the lh Exhaust Heat Shield and release it before removing the wheel drive shaft heat shield. For the replacement of the ho2s electrical harness you must disconnect its connector in the engine compartment before bending the edge from the Exhaust Heat Shield channel along the lh side to release the harness. The j 39194-c Oxygen Sensor wrench (J 39194-C) allows the user to perform a careful removal of the ho2s. Before reinstalling the previous ho2s sensor threads must be coated with anti-seize compound which should use saturn p/n 24185279 or any equivalent substance. Tighten one end of the ho2s by using the j 39194-c (J 39194-C) Oxygen Sensor wrench until torque reaches 41 n.m (30 lb ft). Reinstall the ho2s electrical harness by following the initial installation steps yet avoid damaging wires while they are in the channel. The wheel drive shaft heat shield needs installation after connecting the ho2s electrical connector while lowering the vehicle.
