• Q: How to replace the rear wheel bearing and hub on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?

  A: Lift the vehicle and set it on stands before taking off the wheel and tire parts to access the rear Wheel Bearing and hub. Disconnect both sensors from the wheel speed sensor and escpects rear position sensor link. Then take off the brake caliper and rotor. Disengage the shock absorber esc wiring and divide the outer Tie Rod End from the suspension knuckle. Lastly take off the Spindle Nut retainer, spindle nut, and washer. Unfasten the connection between the upper Control Arm and suspension knuckle before taking off the whole suspension knuckle by removing its ball joint stud from the lower Control Arm. Separate the hub-bearing assembly from suspension knuckle by unfastening the Wheel Hub mounting bolts. During Wheel Hub replacement stick to using the specified part number for rear Wheel Hub/wheel speed sensor since front and back units cannot be swapped between them. Place the Wheel Hub and bearing assembly on the suspension knuckle and torque Wheel Hub bolts to 130 nm with 96 ft. Lbs. Torque. Fasten the suspension knuckle first to the upper Control Arm and then to the lower Control Arm ball stud. Fit the Spindle Nut and both hardware pieces before connecting the outer Tie Rod End to the suspension knuckle. Put back the brake rotor and caliper while linking the wheel speed sensor harness connector to the shock absorber esc harness connector plus the esc rear position sensor link. Put on the tire and wheel unit then lower the vehicle back down.
