• Q: How to replace the A/C Switch control module on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox?

  A: Start the HVAC Control Module replacement by removing the center trim bezel from the instrument panel followed by temp cable and blower switch and electrical connector disconnect from the HVAC Control Module and last by removing electrical connectors from the center trim bezel. You must remove the HVAC Control Module screws from the center trim bezel before extracting the HVAC Control Module. Reattach the HVAC Control Module to the center trim bezel with screws which must get tightened to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Use the assembly alignment tab to center the temperature knob shaft while lining up the temperature control cable lug with the detent spring center point to maintain the hvac module temperature door position through detent spring force. Establish a connection for the temperature cable, blower switch and electrical connectors to the HVAC Control Module followed by other electrical connectors to the center trim bezel before reattaching the center trim bezel to the instrument panel. To calibrate mode doors press the a/c and recirc buttons on the HVAC Control Module three times each within two seconds of your first push following which the a/c and recirc button leds will flash. During calibration the a/c and recirc button leds remain active until the ten to thirty seconds process completes based on battery voltage. Replacement of either a mode actuator or HVAC Control Module requires HVAC Control Module calibration before starting operation to maintain correct air distribution. When calibration finishes verify proper operation by cycling the ignition.
