To fix the problem, lift the vehicle first and take all necessary safety precautions. Separate the HO2S connector, and then take out the HO2S using Oxygen Sensor Wrench (J 39194-B). You should put a small amount of anti-seize compound GM P/N 5613695 on the threads of the new oxygen sensor if removal might be difficult later. Place the new HO2S using the Oxygen Sensor Wrench (J 39194-B) and tighten it to 42 N.m (31 lb ft). Make sure to reconnect the HO2S harness connector and then lower the vehicle.
