How to Replace a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on a 2WD Vehicle on 2005 Chevrolet Express 2500?

To start replacing the Vehicle Speed Sensor you must first raise the vehicle. When replacing the vss you must work on 2wd vehicles since the output speed sensor on 4wds resides on their Transfer Case. Remove the electrical connector from the output speed sensor before taking out the bolt that secures it. Remove the output speed sensor with its bracket from the case. After that, check the output speed sensor assembly for defects. Apply automatic transmission fluid on the output speed sensor seal before installing output speed sensor parts and their mounting bracket. Tighten the bolt to 11 nm (96 inch lbs.) while installing it. Then connect the output speed sensor electrical connector before putting the vehicle back on the ground.
