2005 Chevrolet Impala Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Antenna Cable for the digital radio on 2005 Chevrolet Impala?
A: Start by removing the right rear upper quarter trim panel followed by lowering the rear of the headliner until you reach the antenna/cable attachment area. Use the roof to adjust the antenna cable mastic patch/tape before disconnecting the antenna cable from its connector on the base. Free the antenna cable retainer from the rear header portion while disconnecting the cable from dome lamp harness clips to put the cable outside the upper quarter panel and dome lamp harness area. Take a thin wire or string to attach the antenna cable end and route it through the rear shelf toward the rear wheel house before operating on the right rear compartment trim panel. Take the antenna cable off the digital radio receiver then remove both holders from the receiver bracket. Once the wire or string clearance is complete you need to remove the antenna cable from the system. Position antenna cable retainers onto receiver bracket before connecting antenna cable to digital radio receiver. Pull the new antenna cable through the shelf to reach the passenger area thanks to the string or wire from the initial step; afterward install the right rear trim panel and eliminate the string or wire. The dome lamp harness serves as the guide for the antenna cable which should be attached to its clips and the antenna cable retainer must be mounted to the rear header. Next connect the antenna cable to the antenna base cable connector then apply mastic patch/tape at the roof and reinstall the rear of the headliner and finally install the right rear upper quarter trim panel.
