• Q: How to replace the Lash Adjusters on 2005 Chevrolet SSR?

  A: To repair the valve lifters, first remove the Cylinder Head and gasket and valve lifter guide bolts. Next, remove the reciprocating valve lifters and guide, being alert to the fact that some of the valve lifters might be stuck and gum or varnish deposits deposited in them, use the valve lifter remover (J 3049-A) or the like where needed. Once the valve lifters are taken out from the guide line up or identify the parts that will be reinstalled to their original places. Before placing the lifters into the lifter guides, thoroughly lubricate them and the engine block valve lifter bores with clean engine oil, making sure that the flat surfaces of the lifters and the flat parts of the lifter guide bore are aligned. Push the lifter all the way into the guide bore, then install the valve lifters on the engine block with guide. Put in the valve lifter guide bolt and tighten it to 12 nm (106 inch lbs) , and finally installing the Cylinder Head and gasket.
