How to replace the tailgate latch on 2005 Chevrolet SSR?

First, before proceeding with the replacement of the tailgate latch, you will open the rear compartment lid and lower the endgate. Remove the rear compartment endgate liner and endgate access panel. Afterwards remove the endgate latch latching fasteners and remove the endgate from the vehicle and then unfasten the latch release rod from the latch. For installation, link the latch release rod on the latch and finally fix the endgate latch onto the endgate. Make sure to tighten endgate latch fasters to 10 N.m (88 lb in) and reinstall the rear compartment endgate access panel and rear compartment endgate liner. Finally, close the endgate as well as the rear compartment lid.
