How to replace the rear trunk latch on 2005 Chevrolet SSR?

Start by lowering the endgate and opening the rear compartment lid before working on this task. To get to the latch inside the rear compartment grab the liner and pull back. Draw its spot with a grease pencil or marker ahead of taking out the part. Pull the tension off the latch cable and disconnect its electric connection point from the vehicle. Unfasten the latch holder screws and slowly take the latch away from its position at the vehicle for cable removal. When putting in the new latch you need to insert the electrical connector into its body opening then link the latch release cable before placing the latch at the marked spot. Secure both fasteners to 10 n.m (88 lb in) pressure before attaching the electric connector if the vehicle uses it. Secure the latch cable to proper position before placing back the rear compartment interior cover.
