How to Service and Repair a Tailgate Latch on Chevrolet SSR?

Begin tailgate latch replacement by opening the rear compartment lid and lowering the tailgate. Start by removing the tailgate access panel and liner of the rear compartment. First extract tailgate latch fasteners before uninstalling the tailgate latch from the vehicle while detaching the latch release rod from the latch. First connect the latch release rod to the latch then secure the tailgate latch into its proper position. Secure the tailgate fasteners to a torque of 10 N.m (88 lb in) then reinstall the rear compartment tailgate access panel followed by installing the tailgate liner. To finish the procedure shut down the tailgate with the rear compartment lid.
