2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer A/C Hose Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an A/C Hose in a Compressor Hose Assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Refrigerant recovery must be performed before starting the replacement of the compressor hose assembly. The halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) should be used to examine leaked fittings on installed components. Start the replacement by unfastening the compressor hose assembly nut and then disconnect the compressor hose from the compressor. You should begin by taking away the foam washers and then unscrew the compressor suction hose nut from the accumulator followed by disconnecting the hose from the accumulator. First remove the o-ring seal together with the bolt supporting the lift bracket as well as the engine stud nut. Begin by disconnecting the compressor discharge hose from the condenser and then removing the compressor hose connection nut which is situated in the driver wheel opening and finally attaching the o-ring seals. Close all fluid pathways using caps or plugs to protect them. The first step for installation is to install new o-ring seals before connecting the compressor discharge hose to the condenser with the hose nut fastened to 28 n.m (21 lb ft). Finally insert the compressor hose into the driver wheel opening connector and tighten the connection with a torque of 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Then attach the compressor suction hose to the engine stud and fasten it with a nut secured to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). The compressor suction hose should be attached to the engine lift bracket using a bolt that is tightened to 48 n.m (35 lb ft) while the compressor suction hose must be connected to the accumulator by tightening the nut to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Use sealing washers to fasten the compressor hose assembly to the compressor center using the washers with retaining nut . Secure this assembly by torquing the nut to 33 n.m (24 lb ft). Conclude the a/c system service by evacuating then recharging the system.
