2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator (LL8) on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: As a first step to install a new Radiator (LL8), drain coolant before collecting refrigerant from the system. Lift the vehicle and detach the lower Radiator shield because it exists on certain models. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) allows you to move the outlet Radiator Hose clamp into a new position before you disassemble the outlet Radiator Hose from the Radiator. After disconnecting the transmission cooler lines from the Radiator the technician should lower the vehicle before removing successively the cooling fan and shroud then the Radiator support diagonal brace and the coolant recovery line. To start the replacement process disconnect the shroud side panels from the Radiator and remove both the Radiator and fasten the condenser bolts to the Radiator. The condenser installation requires attachment to the Radiator before tightening bolts to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). After assembling and raising the vehicle one more time you can install both the Radiator and the cooling fan as well as the shroud. Use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to connect the outlet Radiator Hose to the Radiator then reposition its clamp. Follow by reconnecting transmission lines before you place the lower support shield if necessary, lower the vehicle, then install the coolant hose and Radiator brace before filling up the cooling system.
