2005 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the auxiliary evaporator core on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: The first step for auxiliary Evaporator core replacement requires a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to test for leaks in its fittings. Start by disconnecting the auxiliary hvac module assembly and then follow with the removal of both auxiliary thermal expansion valve (TXV) line clamp screws. Complete the process by taking off the line clamp from the hvac module assembly. You must remove the txv insulation before taking out the bolt from the auxiliary txv line block fitting and disconnecting the a/c lines from the auxiliary txv while discarding sealing washers. Open a/c lines should receive both caps and tapes for system contamination prevention. First remove the bolts which secure the auxiliary txv to the auxiliary Evaporator core before extracting the valve component while discarding both sealing washers. After removing the auxiliary temperature actuator screws along with auxiliary blower motor housing screws the technician will take out the auxiliary hvac module case screws to separate the case components and collect the auxiliary Evaporator core from the lower hvac module case. To install the new auxiliary Evaporator core add the specified pag oil to it before placing the core into the lower hvac module case then connect the case halves with screws which require 1.6 n.m (14 lb in) of torque. Attach the auxiliary blower motor housing along with its screws at 1.6 n.m torque, then install the auxiliary temperature actuator using its screws at 1.6 n.m torque as well. Install new sealing washers on auxiliary Evaporator core and eliminate the caps from a/c lines before you connect the auxiliary txv to the core and tighten its mounting bolts to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). The auxiliary txv line block fitting requires new sealing washers before connection to the auxiliary Evaporator core using a retaining bolt tightened at 11 n.m (97 lb in). Wrap up the procedure by putting in the new txv insulation while attaching the txv line clamp to both the hvac module and finishing with a 1.6 n.m (14 lb in) screw torque before reinstallation of the hvac component.
