2005 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an Auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: The first step for replacing an auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve (TXV) involves recovering the refrigerant through proper techniques. Start by removing both the left lower quarter trim panel with its attached foam wrap that covers the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve. You should start by removing auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line clamp screws along with the clamp that belongs to the hvac module assembly. Disassemble the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line block fitting by removing its bolt before taking the a/c lines from the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve while discarding the sealing washers. Seal the exposed a/c refrigerant lines with caps or tape in order to stop contamination. The next step is to remove the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve from Evaporator core by extracting its mounting bolts and taking it out while capping or taping off the core lines before discarding the sealing washers. During installation replace the Evaporator line caps or tape then insert new washers before attaching the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve onto the Evaporator core by tightening all mounting bolts to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Install new sealing washers after removing caps or tape from a/c lines and attach them to the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve. Fasten the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line block fitting with a retaining bolt that reaches 11 n.m of torque (97 lb in) prior to attaching the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line clamp to the hvac module assembly while tightening its clamp screw to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). A new foam wrap should be applied to the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve before system evacuation and recharging while conducting halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) testing on all fittings. The installation procedure ends by reattaching the left lower quarter trim panel.
