Chevrolet Uplander Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the air conditioning evaporator core on Chevrolet Uplander?
A: The first step to replace an Evaporator core requires hvac module assembly removal followed by heater outlet duct screws and the duct itself before proceeding. To start replace the Heater Core cover and Heater Core pipe screw and subsequently remove the Heater Core. You must detach the hvac module from the dash panel sound barrier seal and the lower hvac module screws before you can divide the module into upper and lower parts. To extract the txv from the Evaporator core discard both sealing washers following screw removal of the thermal expansion valve (TXV), Evaporator core and Evaporator temperature sensor. Attention must be given to adding the specified polyalkylene glycol oil (PAG) directly to the new Evaporator core before installing sealing washers across the Evaporator line for a proper txv connection. Fasten the txv using mounting screws at 3.2 n.m (28 lb in) torque before putting on the Evaporator temperature sensor and Evaporator core. The hvac technician should place the upper case onto the lower case before tightening lower hvac module screws to 1.2 n.m (11 lb in). Position the hvac module into the dash panel sound barrier followed by the Heater Core and Heater Core pipe which should be fastened with screws at 1.2 n.m of torque (11 lb in). The Heater Core requires screws to attach the cover while maintaining a tightness of 1.2 n.m (11 lb in). Then reinstall the heater outlet duct and its screws tightened to 1.2 n.m (11 lb in). Put back the hvac module assembly as the last step.
