Chevrolet Uplander A/C Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Replace the A/C Hose in the HVAC System for Suction Hose on Chevrolet Uplander?
A: First step to install the suction hose (LZ9) in the HVAC system requires the Halogen Leak Detector (J 39400-A) to test fittings of A/C components. The recovery process needs to start by extracting all refrigerant substances from the A/C system. The replacement of the A/C suction hose to A/C evaporator tube bolt requires removing the bolt followed by detaching the hose from the tube and discarding the sealing washer. Start by applying a cap or tape to the evaporator tube and then detach the air baffle inside the radiator. Proceed with disconnecting the A/C compressor electrical connector followed by removing the A/C suction hose to A/C compressor nut and the A/C suction hose from the A/C compressor while discarding the sealing washer in both instances. The procedure requires taping or capping of the A/C suction port on the A/C compressor followed by removing the A/C suction hose . Before installation use new sealing washers on the A/C suction hose then remove the cap or tape from the suction port of the A/C compressor before attaching the A/C suction hose to the A/C compressor and maintaining its hex nut at 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Place an A/C evaporator tube bolt on the hose before its installation onto the tube. Securing this bolt requires a torque setting of 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Complete the process by reattaching the electrical connector of the compressor then proceed with evacuation and complete A/C system recharging.
