• Q: How to replace the right exhaust manifold on 2005 Chevrolet Uplander?

  A: Begin the right Exhaust Manifold replacement by removing the throttle body air inlet duct before rotating the engine for better reach. Remove the manifold air pressure (MAP) sensor followed by the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. Additionally disconnect the ignition module with the ignition coils and bracket. The right bank spark plugs receive their plug wire disconnect in the same step as disconnecting the Oxygen Sensor electrical connector. The exhaust crossover pipe nuts/studs on the right bank Exhaust Manifold need removal before raising the vehicle for Catalytic Converter replacement. You must start by removing the Exhaust Manifold heat shield bolts combined with the heat shields before moving on to take out the Exhaust Manifold nuts to finish with replacing the manifold along with its gasket. Thoroughly clean all surface areas where sealing occurs on both the engine right side and the cylinder head. The replacement of the manifold requires removal of both EGR Valve pipe and heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S). Install the ho2s together with EGR Valve pipe if they were removed previously. Lift the vehicle once more after support then put in the Exhaust Manifold Gasket and Exhaust Manifold before tightening each nut to 16 nm (12 ft. Lbs.). Install the Catalytic Converter after tightening the lower and upper heat shields with bolts at 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Put down the vehicle to install the crossover exhaust pipe nuts/studs onto the right Exhaust Manifold before attaching the heat shield. Reconnect the ho2s electrical connector and then install Spark Plug Wires and the ignition module with ignition coils together with their bracket. As the last step install the EGR Valve to the intake manifold followed by the MAP Sensor then follow with rotating the engine to its original position before reinstalling the throttle body air inlet duct.
