How to replace the upper Door Latch Assembly of the rear side access door on 2005 GMC Canyon?

The first step to replace the upper latch of the rear side access door starts by opening this door and uninstalling the trim panel. You must first disconnect the upper latch rod from the latch through the removing of retaining clips and afterward unscrew both upper latch bolts to extract the upper latch from the door. Position the upper latch onto the rear side access door before you loosely put in the lower bolts for setup. Secure these bolts to achieve a proper gap between the latch bracket and door panel before attaching the upper latch rod using retaining clips. Complete the installation by self-aligning the latch through door closing while securing the lower bolts on the finishing stage. You should secure the upper latch bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in) tension. Use an open door to install the upper latch bolt before tightening it to 9 N.m (80 lb in). Reposition the trim panel before closing the rear side access door.
