2005 GMC Envoy Brake Master Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2005 GMC Envoy?
A: First engage the parking brake and disconnect both elements related to the fluid level sensor on the master cylinder. Then detach the brake pipes from the master cylinder. It is necessary to add rubber plugs or caps on top of open brake hose fittings to stop brake fluid from escaping and entering the system. Twist off the brake pipes plug and loosen master cylinder mounting socket nuts to extract the master cylinder assembly. Drain brake fluid from the unit and prepare for new master cylinder installation. Before fitting the master cylinder assembly you should conduct bench bleeds on the master cylinder function. Place the master cylinder mounting nuts in position and fasten them with 36 nm torque. Connect the brake pipes and tighten the fittings at 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) force after you detach rubber seals from brake lines. Join the master cylinder fluid sensor to the electrical system then complete the hydraulic brake bleeding process.
