How to replace an alternator on 2005 GMC Savana 2500?

Before generator replacement start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable and removing the accessory Drive Belt. To begin proceedings disconnect the generator electrical connector and loosen the generator cable by sliding the boot down to expose the terminal stud followed by removing the generator cable nut from the terminal stud. Next follow the generator bolt removal sequence to take out the generator. The installation process starts with generating bolt placement followed by generator bolt installation before performing a 50 n.m (37 lb ft) torque adjustment. The generator cable needs installation where it secures the generator cable nut to the terminal stud at 9 n.m (80 lb in) following step by sliding the boot over the terminal stud. After connecting the generator electrical connector, reinstall the accessory Drive Belt and finish with the negative Battery Cable reconnection.
