Q: How to Replace the Motor and Transmission Mount on 2005 GMC Sierra 1500?
A: The first step for replacing the rear transmission mount (NV 3500) includes both vehicle lifting and proper support. Begin by removing both transmission mount to crossmember nut and transmission mount to transmission bolts. A transmission jack should be used to lift the transmission slightly so you can remove the mount before taking out the transmission mount. Start by placing the new transmission mount into position afterwards install the transmission mount to transmission bolts before tightening them to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.). After lowering the transmission you should first remove the transmission jack while you install the transmission mount to crossmember nut followed by tightening it to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Finally, lower the vehicle.
