2006 Buick Lucerne Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2006 Buick Lucerne?
A: Recovery of refrigerant must precede any condenser replacement work. You should start by taking out the front compartment sight shield and then the hood latch support. Starting with the discharge hose nut at the condenser remove the liquid line nut and suction hose nut and finish by removing the suction hose connection. After removing the washer seals, disconnect both condenser lines from their mounting bolt on the radiator and the condenser mounting bolts themselves. The installation procedure begins with condenser removal from the radiator retainer followed by removing it from the vehicle. Installation requires inserting the condenser into the radiator retainer while you should add refrigerant oil when replacing the condenser. Quadruple nut and bolt the condenser by applying 9 N.m (80 lb in) torque. Tighten the condenser line to radiator mounting bolt at 6 N.m (53 lb in) using the same condenser line mounting bracket. The installation process begins with installing fresh sealing washers and then the suction hose and its nut before the nut gets tightened at 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Place the liquid line and its nut into position before tightening it to 16 N.m (12 lb ft). Finally install the front compartment sight shield after performing a leak test with J 39400-A and recharging the A/C system while you reattach the hood latch bracket.
