2006 Buick Terraza Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Replace an Auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve on 2006 Buick Terraza?
A: Recovery of the refrigerant must occur before replacing the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve. First remove both the left lower quarter trim panel and foam wrap which covers the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve. Start by disassembling both the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line clamp screws and the clamp attached to the hvac module assembly. The replacement of the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve requires users to remove the bolt connecting the line block fitting and separate the a/c lines from the A/C Expansion Valve before tossing out the sealing washers. Tape down the exposed a/c refrigerant lines right away to stop all forms of contamination. The technician should first remove the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve bolts that secure it to the Evaporator core then extract the device from the core while capping or taping Evaporator core lines. Lastly, discard the sealing washers. To install the part substitute the Evaporator line caps or tape with new sealing washers before fitting the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve to the Evaporator core using mounting bolts tightened to 3.5 n.m (31 lb in). Begin the installation by unscrewing the tape or cap from the a/c lines which must be sealed with new washers before connecting the lines to the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve. Secure a retaining bolt on the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line block fitting at 11 n.m (97 lb in) before you attach the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve line clamp onto the hvac module assembly while torquing the screw to 1.6 n.m (14 lb in). First add a new foam wrap to the auxiliary A/C Expansion Valve after performing evacuations and recharges of the system then use the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to test for leaks before putting back the left lower quarter trim panel.
