To change the transmission position switch/ sensor, jack up the car and replace the shaft seal in case it is leaking. Disassemble the shift linkage, remove the manual shift shaft nut, disconnect the exhaust system and unbolt the system. Take out the manual shift shaft to change the position switch and subsequently reassemble and align the shift control linkage and lower the vehicle.
