2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500?
A: Start by elevating and supporting the vehicle then remove the fuel line bracket nut and bracket from the bellhousing stud before lowering the vehicle back down. Start by taking out the driver side rear Ignition Coil bolts before relocating the Ignition Coil. Apply penetrating oil onto the sensor while disconnecting its electrical connector. Allow the sensor to absorb the oil before removing the bolt to release the ckp sensor. To remove the sensor twist it while you move it back and forth before you pull it straight upward until you can remove it. Check for sensor wear during removal. Inspection of the sensor element will detect normal wear on the wear strips while abusive use will show excessive wear requiring sensor replacement when found. To use the original sensor replace damaged o-rings and apply clean engine oil as a lubricant. Before mounting the ckp sensor bolt, apply gm p/n 12345493 thread adhesive (Canadian P/N 10953488) to threads and utilize 12 n.m of torque force (106 lb in) when installing. After attaching the ckp sensor electrical connector, position the Ignition Coil on the rocker cover and tighten driver side rear Ignition Coil bolts to 12 n.m (106 lb in). Begin by elevating the vehicle to fit the fuel line bracket to the bellhousing until the bracket nut reaches 10 n.m (89 lb in) torque setting before executing a ckp system variation learn procedure at the end.
