2006 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: To replace the coolant reservoir means one has to drain the cooling system first. Remove the coolant reservoir inlet hose from the coolant reservoir by repositioning the coolant reservoir inlet hose clamp using Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185). Then unscrew the underhood junction block bracket nuts (1,2) and the underhood junction block bracket bolt. Lift the underhood junction block bracket away from the coolant reservoir. Then, you should remove the coolant reservoir nut. With the coolant reservoir lifted, use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) and reposition the coolant reservoir outlet hose clamp. Remove the coolant reservoir outlet hose. Disconnect the sensor for the coolant level electrical connection and pull out the coolant reservoir. Installation, locate the coolant reservoir in position, and fit the coolant level sensor electric connector. After the coolant reservoir is lifted up, fix the coolant reservoir outlet hose and tighten the hose clamp with the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) in its new position. Install the coolant reservoir nut while tightening it up to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Adjust the underhood junction block bracket into location and insert the underhood junction block bracket nuts (1, 2) and tighten them at 10 Nm (88 inch lbs.). Put in the underhood junction block bracket bolt and tighten it to 25Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Last, attach the coolant reservoir hose from the coolant reservoir into the coolant reservoir, then secure it by repositioning the hose clamp with the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) then fluidize the cooling system.
