Chevrolet Cobalt Coolant Reservoir is a container, which is also known as the coolant recovery tank since it is there to store the extra coolant fluid preventing its spillage and the access of fresh air into the system. There are two main types of coolant reservoirs used in Cobalt vehicles: expansion tanks systems and over flow tanks systems. In the overflow system the coolant just pours over to the recovery tank when pressure goes higher than the cap pressure while the expansion tank is integrated into the pressure containing cooling system and it's utility includes to contain both expanding and contracting coolant. It is advised to periodically find some presence of crack, leakage or any rust coloration on the coolant recovery tank.

Chevrolet Cobalt Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Cobalt?
    A:
At its front, each coolant reservoir is eliminated by draining the cooling system. Clamp the reservoir inlet hose with the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) and relocate it, then remove the reservoir inlet hose. Then, you need to remove the underhood junction block and bracket. Lift the reservoir and with Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) again, move the reservoir outlet hose clamp to another position prior to releasing the reservoir outlet hose. Unplug the coolant level sensor electrical connector and remove the reservoir. To install, do installation of the reservoir and select the coolant level sensor electrical connector. With the raise reservoir, fit the reservoir hose outlet and then secure it back by repositioning the hose clamp using Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185). Mount the underhood junction block and bracket and fasten the reservoir inlet hose with another reposition of hose clamp using Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185). Finally, fill the cooling system.
