2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front coolant reservoir on 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: If you need to replace the coolant reservoir, start by draining the cooling system. Do not release the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) and reposition the coolant reservoir inlet hose clamp on the coolant reservoir inlet hose, then take the coolant reservoir inlet hose out. Next, unbolt the underhood junction block bracket nuts (1, 2) and the underhood junction block bracket bolt. Take out the junction block bracket under the hood and remove the coolant reservoir nut. Climb on top of the coolant reservoir and use the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) and reposition the coolant reservoir outlet hose clamp; either tighten or loosen, depending on which position you want the hose clamp - before removing the coolant reservoir outlet hose. If the tank container does not have any connections on the ground, detach the connector for the coolant level sensor, remove the tank container. For installation, position the coolant reservoir and plug the coolant level sensor electrical connector. By lifting up the coolant reservoir, install the coolant reservoir outlet hose and fix it using the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185). Replace the coolant reservoir nut and hand tighten it to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Place the underhood junction block bracket in place and tighten the underhood junction block bracket nuts (1,2) to 10 N.m (88 lb in), followed by the underhood junction block bracket bolt tightened to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). As a last step of the activity, install the coolant reservoir inlet hose and fasten it with the Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185), then fill the cooling system.
