• Q: How to replace the vacuum brake booster on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?

  A: Begin replacement of the vacuum Brake Booster by taking out the battery then moving the underhood electrical center aside with the battery tray. Detach the coolant surge hose link to the surge tank and place the item aside. Keep the brake pipes connected to the master cylinder while unscrewing its mounting nuts and slowly move the master cylinder off the vacuum booster for storage. Free the vacuum booster check valve and hose set from its attachment at the booster. Take off the transmission control module bundle including bracket from the strut tower to put it atop the engine but keep the electrical connectors connected. Install both brake parts: the brake modulator valve bracket and the brake modulator assembly when they are available. Place the tcm and bracket on the strut tower before attaching the vacuum booster check valve and its connecting hose to the booster unit. Place the master cylinder on the booster before adding the coolant surge hose with its clamp to the surge tank. Cap off all installation steps by putting in the battery tray and underhood electrical panel with battery connection after you bleed the brake system if required.
