2006 Chevrolet Equinox Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the rear brake line on 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Before starting the replacement procedure raise and support the vehicle before removing its tire and wheel assembly. Dust off all particles from both ends of the brake hose and from the brake pipe parts. The brake hose needs to be removed by connecting a second wrench to the brake pipe and slowly loosening the caps from both brake pipe and brake hose ends while keeping everything sealed to avoid fluid leakage and contamination. Take out the brake hose from its storage position by detaching both retaining clips from the mounting brackets. To set up the brake hose simply place it on the bracket system and include clips on every fitting point. Secure the brake pipe connection at the rear brake hose by tightening its fittings to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.) with a back up wrench on the hose fitting. Reattach the tire to its wheel and make sure the hose stays away from all suspension parts. If contact occurs take the hose out and fix the problem. End the process by draining the hydraulic brake system and lowering the vehicle.
