2006 Chevrolet HHR Starter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the starter motor on 2006 Chevrolet HHR?
A: Start by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable before you raise and support the vehicle. First remove the Starter solenoid nut and disconnect the positive/negative Battery Cable terminal and the engine harness terminal from the Starter. After removing the "s" terminal nut from the Starter solenoid you should disconnect the engine harness terminal from both the Starter solenoid and the Starter. The installation process begins with removing Starter bolts before removing the Starter unit. Position the Starter on the engine and use a torque wrench for Starter bolt installation at 40 n.m (30 lb ft). Use the engine harness terminal to connect with the Starter solenoid before you tighten the Starter solenoid "s" terminal nut to 3 n.m (27 lb in). Then connect the engine harness terminal onto the Starter before connecting the positive/negative Battery Cable terminal. After installing the Starter solenoid nut to 17 n.m (13 lb ft) torque, lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative Battery Cable.
