  A: To replace the crankshaft rear oil seal, initially one has to remove the engine Flywheel and the crankshaft rear oil seal from its rear cover.ycles. It should be ensured that before installation, the Flywheel spacer, if any, be removed not to lubricate the inside diameter (ID) of the oil seal and the crankshaft surface because the rear oil seal of the crankshaft should not be used again. Lubricate the outside diameter (OD) of the oil seal and the rear cover oil seal bore with clean engine oil, ensuring that no contact takes place on the seal. Install the j 41479 crankshaft rear oil seal installer (J 41479) tapered cone and bolts to the rear of the crankshaft, tighten bolts snug but do not over tighten. Next, install the rear oil seal to the tapered cone and push it to the rear cover bore. Thread the threaded rod j 41479 into the taper cone until it touches the oil seal and aligns the oil seal with the tool, then turn the handle of the tool clockwise until the oil seal passes into the rear cover and bottoms in the cover bore. Lastly, replace the j 41479 and replace the engine Flywheel.
