• Q: How to service and repair the Valve Stem Oil Seal on 2006 Chevrolet SSR?

  A: Start Valve Stem Oil Seal service first by taking out both spark plugs and all valve Rocker Arm and Pushrod components. Fit the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) into the Spark Plug opening before connecting an air tube and pushing compressed air into the serviced cylinder. Use a soft rubber mallet to tap the valve spring retainer if its keys do not free up easily. Push the valve spring down using a valve spring compressor model j 38606 to take out the valve keys with a magnet. You need to extract the valve spring retainer, valve spring, valve seal, and shim after you have taken off the valve spring compressor model j 38606. Put grease on the valve tip lightly and place the valve and shim in their proper position. Wrap the spring retaining tool around the valve spring and retainer while the valve spring compressor (J 38606) controls them. Roll keys into clean grease and put them through the valve with either a small magnet tool or another magnet before letting the special tool go. You should now release the valve spring compressor (J 38606) and take out the Spark Plug port adapter (J 22794) before putting back the spark plugs and valve Rocker Arm with pushrods.
