- Q: How to replace the Antenna Cable for the digital radio on 2006 GMC Canyon?A: In order to replace the coaxial cable for the digital radio, first, lower the front part of the headliner in order to get the access to the digital radio antenna connectors and disconnect them. Remove 2 upper coax cable retainers from the header panel and 3 from the windshield pillar. Fully lower the instrument panel (I/P) compartment door and disconnect digital receiver extension cable (1) from the receiver. Remove retainers from the I/P (2) and remove the electrical connector (3). Remove the extension cable out of the vehicle, and pop the coax cable retainer (3) off the I/P, attach mechanics wire to the end of the coax cable (2), pop the coax cable retainer (4) off the hinge pillar then pull up on the cable (1) and release the retainer so that it falls down off the hinge pillar and then take the cable off behind the I/P, leaving the mechanics wire. For installation attach existing mechanics wire in to end of coax cable (2) and pull down to install cable behind I/P. Attach coax cable retainer (4) to hinge pillar and retainer (3) to I/P, connect digital receiver extension cable (1) to receiver, attach retainers (2) to I/P and connect electrical connector (3). Close the I/P compartment door and attach 3 coax cable retainers to the windshield pillar, then we connect the digital radio antenna connectors (1), after this we attach the 2 upper coax cable retainers to the header panel and after this installation we put the headliner.
