    A: Start by taking out the Radiator then the A/C Condenser followed by lifters and Timing Chain and Camshaft sprocket and balance shaft drive gear. After removing the Camshaft retainer bolts and retainer you should carefully extract the engine Camshaft while taking care not to damage the Camshaft bearings because all Camshaft journals share the same diametric size. Drive three 5/16-18 x 4.0 inch bolts into the front bolt holes of the engine Camshaft to use them for rotating the Camshaft out of the bearings before removing the bolts. Examine and clean the Camshaft together with bearings depending on your need. After cleaning the Camshaft bearing journals and Camshaft lobes with lubricant gm p/n 12345501 (Canadian P/N 992704) or engine oil supplement gm p/n 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869), proceed with the installation. Before installing a new Camshaft maintain proper care with changing engine oil and filter and adding engine oil supplement gm p/n 1052367 (Canadian P/N 992869) to the engine oil. Insert the engine Camshaft through the three bolts as support before removing these bolts. Fasteners should be treated with threadlocker gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953488) on their retainer bolt threads before controlled torquing to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). The correct positioning of drive and driven gears must be achieved before installing the Timing Chain and Camshaft sprocket and lifters and A/C Condenser and Radiator.
