- Q: How to replace the positive battery cable (LY7) on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?A: Begin the ly7 battery positive cable replacement process by disconnecting both the battery negative cable followed by the battery positive cable from the battery. Open the electrical center cover through its tabs before unfastening the nut that holds the positive cable to the electrical center site. To obtain safe access to connections first move the generator output bat terminal boot to a different position then remove the terminal nut and disconnect the generator battery positive lead from its installation point. Lower the vehicle and then take off the battery positive cable from the Starter by removing its Starter terminal nut. The initial step for installation involves placing the battery positive cable over the engine and then supporting and raising the vehicle. After positioning the battery positive cable onto the Starter you should install the Starter terminal nut while tightening it to 13 n.m (115 lb in). Connect the generator bat terminal nut and tight it to 13 n.m (115 lb in) torque. Finish the installation by first reinstalling the protective boot to the generator output bat terminal before lowering the vehicle. Then install the nut that secures the battery positive cable to the electrical center while torquing it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Complete the installation of the electrical center cover afterward you attach the battery positive cable to the battery with 17 n.m (13 lb ft) torque and rejoin the battery negative cable.
