- Q: How to replace the exhaust pipe on a 3.6L engine on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?A: The first step to replace the exhaust crossover pipe for a 3.6l engine requires removal of the left inner fender brace alongside the air cleaner assembly and left and right front engine mount struts and Throttle Body. Tie down straps should be used to maintain engine position when it is rotated forward to its maximum extent. The next procedure requires removing downpipe attaching nuts before taking off both left bank and front right bank crossover pipe nuts. Raising the vehicle becomes necessary alongside wheel and fender splash shield removal of the left front tire. Then proceed with the left fender splash shield removal. Release the intermediate shaft bolt to disjoin its connection between steering gear and left fail rail with a proper jack stand positioning which should not impact right side frame to body bolts. To begin the procedure install a jack stand under the frame after unbolt the left two frame to body connectors and then lower the frame before removing the fourth exhaust crossover pipe nut. The process starts with vehicle lowering and removal of the transmission fluid filler tube prior to crossover pipe extraction. The first step for installation requires installing the crossover pipe followed by cross nut application which needs to be tightened up to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Begin by installing the transmission fluid filler tube followed by raising and supporting the vehicle under a jack stand to raise the frame. Finally install the left two frame bolts and remove the jack stand. Follow the sequence of reuniting the steering gear with the intermediate shaft and installing the left front tire and wheel afterward. Reattach the left inner fender splash shield as well. The crossover pipe nuts for both left bank sections and front right bank together with downpipe connecting nuts should be installed at this time. Move the tie down straps from the engine before putting the engine into position again while setting the left and right front engine mount struts in place with the Throttle Body and air cleaner assembly containing the left inner fender brace.
